The starting point for the RSX11M-Plus system is the disk image from ftp:\/\/ftp.trailing-edge.com\/pub\/rsx_dists\/rsx11mpbl87.dsk.bz2
\nThis is an image of an RD54 disk, with the F77 compiler and decnet software already loaded onto it; it needs to be converted into an RP06 image, because the FPGA only has an RH controller – the RD requires an MSCP controller, and that is quite a bit more complex.
\nSo, I’m going to start with booting the RD54 image, and then run a sysgen on it to add an RH and RP06 into the RSX system. At the same time, I’m also adding a TS tape unit; this will come in useful in the next step. The sysgen is quite straightforward; almost all questions can be answered by just pressing enter to accept the default; it’s only where the disk and tape device questions come in that real choices need to be entered. And, support for Decnet will be included; but – and this is a bit confusing – not the support for the deuna; this is because the RSX deuna drivers conflict with the Decnet drivers.
\nAfter the sysgen is done, the new system with the drivers for the RP06 will be booted; then I’m using the bad and bru utilities to copy over the files from the original RD54.
